One of our association’s key tools, the card game, is not a game in the strict sense of the word. It is a tool for reflection that we use to spark discussion about cultures, whatever form they may take.
WHAT IS A CARD GAME?
The Social Constellation card game is an intercultural educational tool designed to open dialogue, stimulate reflection, and foster exchanges.
It consists of about 100 illustrated cards, divided into four categories, each identified by a color code:
Yellow Cards – Communities Stories, cultural practices, and skills passed down by partner communities.
Blue Cards – Reflection Questions Open-ended questions to share participants’ experiences, personal stories, and perspectives.
Green Cards – Sourced Information Factual data from media and institutional sources.
Red Cards – International Mobility Reflections on international youth mobility, exchange, and solidarity projects and openness to the world.
Each card features :
Front: a photograph related to the theme
Back: a piece of information or a question to spark discussion
The Card Game Project
The card game serves as a first step toward raising awareness of intercultural, social, and environmental issues.
Through a variety of themes—such as traditions, food, housing, nature, lifestyles, and beliefs—it invites participants to discover other cultures while questioning their own perceptions.
When used in a group setting, the game:
Encourages dialogue and active listening,
Stimulates collective reflection,
Values the diversity of perspectives.
The discussions that arise then contribute to the intercultural fresco, a collective creation that visualizes the shared ideas and reflections.
The card game thus serves as a transitional tool, facilitating the shift from discussion to collective reflection.
